Greek government plans 30% retroactive FIT cut 12.03.2014: The Greek Ministry of Environment plans to introduce further retroactive reductions to PV incentives, according to the Greek Association of Photovoltaic Energy Producers (SPEF). The Ministry recently submitted for public consultation a draft law that seeks to retroactively cut FITs for existing PV installations by 30%. The cuts would enable the Hellenic Transmission System Operator SA (HTSO) to reduce it deficit, which now stands at approximately €550 million ($762 million). Due to this deficit, HTSO is several months behind on its FIT payments to PV system owners. If enacted in its current form, the proposed law would eliminate the deficit by the end of 2014 by reducing FIT payments and by canceling outstanding FIT payments. Greek PV system owners received the FIT payment for June 2013 from HTSO at the end of February. © PHOTON
