Dear Sirs, I have just learned from my friends that there is a plan to reserve a large section of the Poros coastline exclusively for industrial fish farms, and to restrict fishing near them. I lived on Poros for 10 years and I am still a frequent visitor. The coastline is very chenic, and yet there are also excellent tourist facilities. This plan for industrial fish farms makes no economic sense. It conflicts with the island's tourism and with its traditional fishing culture. It is true that farmed fish can be sold a little more cheaply than wild -caught fish, but he quality is inferior and many people refuse to eat them. If there must be such fish farms, the should be in locations where they do not conflict with natural beauty and tourism. I urge you as Mayor of Poros to strongly oppose this plan.
