  We believe the northeastern coastline of Chios and neighbouring areas in Oinousses already have such a large number of fishfarms that creating more would have profoundly negative environmental impacts. We have consulted with marine biologists from ARCHIPELAGOS (based in Ikaria) who have also expressed grave concerns about increasing the number of fishfarms in these waters. Also negatively affected would be the potential development of tourism in these areas. We call upon the licensing authorities to review their decision to grant permission for further fishfarms in these areas.
