To whom it may concern: I have been a licensed amateur radio operator in both the USA and in the Republic of Ecuador for over 40 years. I personally feel that amateur radio operators transmitting from Mount Athos should be assigned a special and unique prefix such as SY0 (SY-Zero). Amateur radio callsigns using the SY0 prefix would immediately be recognized Worldwide as a transmission that is originating from Mt. Athos. The use of an easily recognizable amateur radio prefix such as SY0 is very important to have especially during emergencies such as power outages and earthquakes. Emergency amateur radio calls are more likely to come from Mt. Athos versus other parts of Greece due to their lack of reliable power sources, cell phone service outages and internet shutdowns. Most important of all, amateur radio operators in Mt. Athos using the SY0 prefix would be recognized immediately as a transmission originating from the highly respected "Holy Mountain". Your assistance in issuing a special and unique prefix such as SY0 to amateur radio operators transmitting from Mt. Athos would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Dr. Rick Dorsch NE8Z/HC1MD
