Disappointing news - The market being open for 21 days means that is it closed and under cabotage for 344 days....This will not lead to home-porting - a declared, government aim is to encourage non Greek yachts to home-port in Greece. Greece will not become a maritime tourism hub, but will remain a transit country with all the negatives for the country that this entails.Greece should abolish the cabotage and invite free movement for commercial vessels, regardless of size as with most other EU Member States. France, Italy and Spain, etc. have profited greatly from repeated chartering of foreign-flagged yachts in their waters – from provisioning, dockage, agent services and VAT paid on the charter fee. I cannot imagine why Greece is intent on discouraging foreign flagged charter activity in Greece, a great many charter clients avoid Greek charter and cruise elsewhere due ot the complications currently in place.
