Social sciences have always had and play a very important role in our lives as active citizens. History is one thing, but social complexities is something we need to understand, enhance, and learn. We would have had less crisis to solve, if our social understanding was better. Not only I stand for Sociology, I believe it should be updated, as the world has so much evolved since the industrial revolution. We are now living industrial revolution 2.0, machine to machine, technology as a defining factor. How do people and societies adapt to that? Latin is important, but not as defining in our lives as Social Sciences. We do learn many, many foreign languages, every Greek knows at minimum two, both who have its roots in latin. Therefore, I believe that it is redundant, as well as a non used language. Or, to be more precise, dead. However, Society and Humanistic sciences are always changing, evolving, and alive. Teach young Greeks the importance of society, and how society works and evolves. Maybe you would see more solutions in the many issues we are facing as a country. Regards, Zinovia Kontopoulou
