    Τα μέτρα αυτοπροστασίας που αναγράφονται στις Βέλτιστες Πρακτικές Διαχείρισης Best Management Practices for Protection against Somalia Based piracy, Version 4 - August 2011 (BMP4), http://www.icc-ccs.org/images/stories/pdfs/bmp4.pdf και η σωστή εκπαίδευση του πληρώματος, έχουν αποδειχθεί στην πράξη, σωτήριες ενέργειες. π.χ. 1.
